I'm just curious, but are there any people on here(aside from myself) that listen to Japanese music? If so, could you post some Japanese bands you listen to? I'll post bands that I can think of that I listen to to give you an example: -Malice Mizer -Moi Dix Mois -MUCC -Orange Range -DéspairsRay -Phantasmogoria -Ayumi Hamasaki -Gackt

Hehe, well. I don't know that much about them but they use the slogan "sex, drugs and email" alot so it must be something good about them. http://www.guitarwolf.net

Do they have a Myspace or another website I can access because all that one is is a picture of the band. There's no link or anything to follow aside from a Japanese Adobe Flash Player site.

You're missing a bunch of JRock essentials
X Japan Sex Machineguns Shiina Ringo (she does a lot of jazz and other weird stuff too) Miyavi (Not really an essential but my favorite JRocker of all time)

I never liked the whole jpop and jrock sound but some japanese bands are really good. Like Heavensdust ( http://www.myspace.com/heavensdust ) Heavensdust makes a mix of metal and classic japanese music. So you have songs with string drums and guitar riffs, and a heavy male vocal, and those elements get support from a koto and wakaido (?). Soft music and heavy music go all togetter very well if they play it. The last 2 albums do have a second vocal (female). Sex Machineguns is also really good power metal.

The two best, and must-hear, Japanese music composers in my opinion are Nobuo Uematsu and Yoko Konno.
Nobuo is in a band called "The Black Mages", music is amazing. Their songs are mostly a mix of heavy metal, orchestra, some techno, and classical - really crazy stuff. Suggest checking out "One Winged Angel"(metal version). Yoko is in a band called "The Seatbelts", its mostly a combination of core instrument players and various well-known singers outside of the band, also freakin' amazing. More of a jazz, blues, hard rock, and pretty much every other type just smashed together for pure awesomeness.

It's been a while since I sat down to listen to Jrock and Jpop but I always come back to such music when I'm in the mood. With Jpop I tend to go for the golden oldies like Yamaguchi Momoe but have gotten into some newer musicians. Kanno Yoko is one amazing composer when it comes to Anime soundtracks. Her music for Cowboy Bebop and Escaflowne is incredible. As for Jrock, favourites include - X Japan, Dir en grey, L'arc~en~ciel, Malice Mizer, Psycho Le Cemu, Luna Sea or Phantasmagoria.
